Warlingham RFC Girls were proud to be invited to take part in the Guard of Honour for England Women, as they faced Wales at Twickenham Stoop, on Saturday evening.

The seven girls:Eliza Mamode and Olivia Rookard (U13); Kirsty Bateman and Zoë Mamode (U15); Sophie York, Vicki Addison and Olivia Mamode (U18) pictured with the England flags for the Guard of Honour.

The Warly Wildcats had a special day out when they were invited to take part in the Guard of Honour to cheer on the England Womens Rugby team, as they faced Wales at The Stoop on Saturday evening.

The day began with the girls watching the England Mens victory on the big screens as the waited at The Stoop , followed by watching close up the England Women as they warmed up on the pitch before the crucial Six Nations clash against Wales Women.

The girls then made their way to form a guard of honour outside the players tunnel to welcome the England and Wales teams as they came out onto the pitch to sing the national anthems.

Ceri Large's first-half double may have inspired England Women to a 20-13 win over their Welsh counterparts to set up a Women's Six Nations title decider next week against France, but the whole England Women team performance will hopefully inspire more girls to start playing Rugby.

Phil Mamode, Girls Rugby Coach at Warlingham RFC said: “This is our first full season of Girls Rugby at The Mighty Warl – something we are extremely proud to be part of. I know the girls felt immense pride in wearing their Warlingham shirts at such a huge game, and being able to wave the England Ladies team onto the pitch. Hopefully some special memories were made.”
