Wildcats Women’s Training at Warlingham

Wildcats Women’s Training at Warlingham

Warlingham RFC8 Apr - 08:00

The next chapter begins as women’s rugby returns with weekly Monday night sessions.

Following the huge success of our “The Pride Returns” event, we’re delighted to be launching Wildcats Women’s training as the next step in growing the women’s game at Warlingham!

Sessions will take place at the club every Monday from 7:30 – 9:00pm, welcoming players of all ages and abilities, whether you’re returning to rugby or trying it for the very first time. These sessions are all about creating a friendly, supportive environment to learn new skills, build confidence, get fitter and be part of a brilliant team. If you’ve ever thought about giving rugby a go, now’s the perfect time.

Come along and be part of something special as the Wildcats continue to grow!

Also, in case you missed it, our Womens and Girls Chair, Hayley Sasserath, put out a message of gratitude to everyone at the club for helping make our all-girls and women's rugby day such a triumph. Reprinted below are her words;

“What an incredible day it was our inaugural “The Pride Returns” event!

I want to extend a heartfelt thank you to every supporter, sponsor and player who helped make it such a success. The energy around the day was truly special and a reminder of how strong our rugby community is.

On a personal note, I feel incredibly grateful to have been trusted with the role of Women’s and Girls Chair. Over the course of this season we have taken some real strides in making women’s and girls’ rugby more visible at the club, and I couldn’t be prouder of what we’ve achieved together. There’s a real buzz building and it’s something very special to be part of.

The biggest shoutout has to go to this fearless group of women. They are always the first to raise their hands to help, step forward and give things a go. Whether it was the first time they had ever picked up a rugby ball, or they were returning to the sport after years away, they did so without hesitation. Even more importantly, they did so in front of their incredible daughters - showing them exactly what it means to be a strong woman stepping outside of your comfort zone.

We are unbelievably lucky to have such a huge number of role models at our club, but there are more to be discovered in our rugby family who haven’t yet experienced the empowerment that rugby is able to provide. Sunday was the first step, and witnessing our growth has been inspiring. I genuinely believe we are only at the beginning of something very exciting.

Women’s and girls’ rugby at Warlingham is here to stay - and I see big things ahead for this group. In the coming weeks, regular women’s training sessions will begin, watch this space for more information.

Thank you all for being part of the journey.”
