Four intrepid teams traveled to Esher RFC for the Surrey U7s festival. With such great success last time they went there could they repeat this again, answered simply yes, yes they could!!!!
Perfect weather for rugby (and tree climbing). All teams did brilliantly, our defensive press was particularly impressive and handling skills were on point. It was noticeable the difference from the beginning of the season and where they are now.
Coach Will M reported “There was one game in particular where it was the best I’ve seen us play. We were impenetrable, we scored three tries before we had proper possession of the ball. Tag, tag, tag until the other team dropped the ball, and we picked it up and ran the length of the pitch to score. Repeat x3!
Offensively they were great too, running it forward, and if they weren’t seeing a gap they were gaining confidence to pass to someone in space before being tagged.
I didn’t see a single forward pass, but there were a few stray foots into touch which is something for us to continue to work on…
Really was some of the best rugby I’ve seen from us all season”
Let’s keep pushing forward and take these positive to Rosslyn Park Rangers Festival next week!!!!
