Warlingham Under 8s travelled to London Irish on Sunday for the Surrey Under 8s Festival, where perfect weather set the scene for a fantastic morning of rugby. Fielding three teams, with each side playing five matches, Warly produced their best festival display yet as the players continued to improve with every outing.
There were several closely fought games, and just as pleasing as anything was the way the teams played - supporting each other well, holding their shape, and resolutely standing firm in the defensive Warly wall, leading to some superb passages of play. One of the standout moments of the day came during one of Team 3’s matches, when the opposition coach could be heard urging his players to spread out “like they are doing” as Warlingham held their line so well. It was a brilliant reflection of the discipline and teamwork on display.
A special mention goes to our Top Bananas for the festival - Khyan, William H and Roscoe. Overall, this was another excellent step forward for the squad and they can head to next Sunday’s festival at Rosslyn Park full of excitement and confidence.
