Warlingham U12s capped off a superb season in style on Sunday, securing a memorable victory in the Waterfall Cup Final against Old Ruts at Old Reigatians, writes team coach Steve Dey.

Having topped their group earlier in the competition, Warlingham entered the final full of confidence, but were quickly reminded they were in for a battle. The match proved to be a physical contest from the outset, with both sides competing fiercely at the breakdown. Warlingham, however, demonstrated resilience and composure under pressure, consistently matching Old Ruts’ intensity.

The difference ultimately lay in Warlingham’s speed, awareness, and clinical finishing. Their ability to adapt quickly and exploit opportunities proved decisive, particularly in a dominant first-half display.

Warlingham ran in five excellent tries before the break, with Fabio opening the scoring, followed by Stanley, Christiaan, and Luke. Captain Jack then added the fifth, rounding off a commanding first-half performance and giving Warlingham a strong 5–0 lead at half-time.

Old Ruts responded in the second half with a well-earned try of their own, but Warlingham remained firmly in control of the game. Unfortunately, with around ten minutes remaining, play was brought to an early conclusion due to a medical emergency involving a spectator.

The match ended 5–1 in Warlingham’s favour, confirming them as deserved winners and marking their first competitive final triumph.

This victory reflects the tremendous progress the team has made over the course of the season. Every player contributed, showing outstanding commitment, determination, and teamwork throughout the campaign.

A fantastic achievement for a group that continues to grow from strength to strength; well done, Warlingham U12s!
