One of the most exciting developments ahead of the new season is the return of a dedicated 2XV, providing more opportunities for players to represent the club and strengthen the senior playing pathway.

Leading the charge this season is Captain Nick Hammond!

Although Nick has only been with the club for a few years, he’s already earned the respect of everyone around him. Trustworthy in defence and a constant threat in attack, he is the kind of player teammates can rely on when it matters most. A true leader who sets the standard through his actions, Nick is the perfect person to guide the team this season.

Joining him as Vice Captain is (Big) Joe Kelly.

Our team giant (all 6’8” of him!), Joe is a dominant presence in the air, endearingly clumsy and always sporting a cheesy smile. Joe brings an infectious positivity that makes him impossible not to like. Whether it’s on the pitch or around the club, people simply love having Joe around.

Completing the leadership trio is Vice Captain Adam Downie-Keen (ADK).

Having been part of the club for almost his entire life, ADK is blue and white through and through. A stalwart of our bi-annual trip to Paris and the undisputed joker of the group, he’s always the first to crack a joke and keep spirits high. Whether it’s with a well-timed one-liner or bringing the team together when it matters most, ADK knows exactly how to make everything feel just that little bit less serious.

Three fantastic leaders. Three different personalities. One goal. Together they bring a blend of leadership, experience, positivity and club spirit that will be vital as the side embarks on its return to regular rugby.
