Bright Day at Warly as sun shines for Brighty

Bright Day at Warly as sun shines for Brighty

David Halliwell28 Jan - 14:59

We love you Brighty!

The club paid tribute to our friend Brighty with a day full of laughter cumulating in a packed club house for the resurrection party we all wanted to attend.

With the main man fashionably late, rugby took centre stage with a special Walking Rugby match followed by the Warlingham Brighty XV complete with pink socks taking on Old Cats on a very muddy schools pitch. The kind of match Brighty starred in often joining the line outs from full back. Cats took the victory 10-15 but that didn’t spoil the occasion and most people couldn’t remember the scoreline anyway. Rugby, as they say, was the winner with Glover even making a tackle to put the icing on the cake (there is photographic evidence).

With a good crowd for the 1st XV match as well, it was great to see the clubhouse full with 2 matches and the opposition sticking around to give a real celebratory flavour to welcome Brighty and for him to receive the inaugural Mark Bright Cup for walking rugby from our guests from Old Whits.

Old friends and new enjoyed the evening’s festivities, sink a few beers and raise a glass. A really brilliant evening to put the icing on the cake of a brilliant day.

Brighty, we love you!
