Our under 14s secured a hard fought win over a strong Old Elthamians side in torrid conditions this weekend. A wet 1st team pitch coupled with a biting northerly wind provided less than ideal conditions for an eye-catching game of rugby. Hands were numb and injuries stacked up throughout the game but despite all the adversity the boys dug deep and contrary to what the scoreline may show we were the dominant force in terms of territory and possession throughout. We would certainly have scored more tries were it not for a few weather induced handling errors out wide after all the hard work had been done.
Full credit to Old Elthamians who served up some proper opposition and made us work for everything. We thank them for paying us a visit and look forward to facing them again sometime soon. Looking forward to the rest of the season and our goal of winning The Waterfall Cup this match will serve as a reminder that nothing comes easy at this level.
Sadly our sole try scorer James 'Jimbo' Gathercole ended up in hospital with a leg injury and our talisman nutcase forward Xav Simmonds-Dance took most of the morning off after a knock to the head. Both were relatively minor injuries and the two of them will be back at training soon.
