Well done to the U14B team who finished their league season today with a really good win against Battersea Ironsides. We kicked off late due to several boys being busy with their DofE in the morning and we also played on the Warlingham school pitch where the lines had disappeared, making refereeing interesting, but neither issue hampered us.
Throughout the game we were well matched to the oppo, with not much between the sides, but we probably played our best rugby of the season, with lots of areas of strength. Uncharacteristically we lost several scrums against the head, normally an area strength, but elsewhere we were strong in the tackle, competed at the line out, rucked well and the midfield partnership of Daniel, Henry and George really started to gel. All backs made good runs to get over the gain line, whilst George covered back to make several crucial tackles.
Tries were scored by Conor, George and Lucas (2) with Daniel Willcombe kicking two conversions. Man of the match goes to George Watchorn for a really strong game in both attack and defence.
Well done all.
