Iain McDonald brings us a brief update from our blended U16s team with Trinity who faced a tough Rosslyn Park side recently.
After running free the week previous with a 42-0 win over Wimbledon Warriors in the 4th round of the Surrey Sundays, opponents for the 5th round were an altogether different challenge.
Sitting top of the league, Rosslyn Park started the game with intent, and quickly put the Trinity-Warlingham Ba-baa’s under intense pressure through quick moves and rapid rucking to move a few tries up - one from good ball retention and moving it side to side, and another from a cheeky interception.
Half-time saw the opportunity for a chat and strategy refresh, and the second half was much more compelling with a strong fight back from the boys. Two stellar drives forward from forward Ali K set up subsequent quick hands for Tom M to score two tries in a hard match, eventually finishing 24-10 to the hosts. A tough Sunday morning for sure, but the Ba-baa’s retain second place in the league due to better points difference than Battersea Ironsides.
