The second run-out began perfectly. On 2:30, a lineout in their 22 delivered quick ball and Matt Barnett powered through for his second of the day; Louis Rossi-Jones added the extras for 7–0.

Southwark grew into it off our set-piece errors. The defence held firm for long spells, but a succession of penalties finally told: a quick tap and two phases later they crossed to the left of the posts. Lancers missed the conversion to keep the score in our favour, 7–5. Warlingham pinned them back again around the 11–15’ mark, but another penalty release and a messy overthrow stalled the pressure, and the shortened clock closed it out at 23’.
