After a damp start the weather cleared and a team of 5 Warly Under 13 girls welcomed 11 Dorking players and 4 Quins amateurs players. After introductions the Quins and Warly girls formed a team with one rotating Dorking player for a 10 vs 10 fixture. It was an absolute pleasure to be part of the fixture which was played in 4 x 15 mins sessions as a development match.
All the girls involved showed great commitment with some excellent tackling technique as well as evasive of powerful running. As the game progressed communication improved meaning some excellent passages in play with supporting runs. Zara Ogazi-Khan scored some great tries from powerful runs driving her legs making her unstoppable. Emma Tansley also troubled the defence with some great runs and a well deserved try as well as an outstanding tackle toward the end of the match. Caitlin Lynch our newest player was a great asset growing into the game and often regaining possession through good rucking over or stripping the ball and showing good support. Last but definitely not least was the tenacity and tackling of Elodie Oldam and Allanagh Whenham was outstanding.
All in all a great session of Rugby with smiles all around. Real promise shown so early in the season considering they were collaborating with a Quins squad to form a scratch team. They should all be very proud of the account they gave themselves and the way they represented the cub.
