UPDATE: Emma’s World Cup charity walks!

200km and counting! Join her club walk this Saturday & show your support

As the Women’s Rugby World Cup heads into the semi-finals, Warlingham’s own wonderful Wildcat Emma Chapman has been racking up the miles in support of the RFU Injured Players Foundation. What started as a personal challenge has become one of the toughest, and most rewarding, things she’s ever done.

Over the past three weeks, Emma has clocked up more than 200 kilometres, walking everywhere from her daily commute routes to special treks across central London. One standout was an eight-mile loop that finished at Style of Your Own, the women’s sports hub in Soho, where she joined friends and even bumped into Premiership players before cheering England on.

“It’s been challenging, definitely one of the hardest things I’ve ever done, but I’m really proud of what I’ve managed to achieve,” Emma says. “I’ve made so many friends through this, and the rugby community has been incredible in their support.”

Despite sore knees and long days on her feet, Emma is still going strong. She’s already raised over £500 and is pushing hard to reach four figures before the tournament ends.

This Saturday 21st September, Emma is inviting her Warly family to join her for a special club walk. The group will set off from the clubhouse at 12pm, head up to the Wattendon Arms near Kenley Aerodrome, and then loop back to Warlingham RFC, all in good time to settle down together and watch England’s semi-final against France at 3.30pm.

“It won’t be about speed, we’ll stop for a drink along the way, take our time and enjoy it. Just bring some water and snacks, and if you can, wear red or white to show support for the charity.”

Rain or shine, Emma hasn’t let the weather hold her back yet, and she doesn’t plan to start now. With the biggest games still to come (and a well-earned ticket to the final on her horizon) she’s walking proof of what determination, community, and a love of rugby can achieve. Well done Emma on what you’ve achieved with this, the club is incredibly proud of you!
