BackSuper Saturday: Minis show off their skills in thrilling curtain raiser
Warly U9s serve up a thrilling battle of the sexes before the Seniors took the field.
To get the crowd warmed up for the Senior friendly afterwards, the Minis section hosted a special curtain raiser game that set pulses racing! With enough girls in the U9s to field a team, we had the fascinating spectacle of a battle of the sexes on a rugby pitch!
The first half was played to touch rules, allowing a few U8s players to also join in, but the second half was all U9s-only contact, with big tackles and storming runs being made by both boys and girls. It was a fiercely competitive game; neither side giving an inch, nor shying away from delivering a brilliant show for the grateful supporters.
Afterwards, the players lined up and welcomed the Senior team through a Guard of Honour onto the pitch for their game. A great way to celebrate rugby at all levels at the club, with hopefully more to come as the season progresses!
