Warlingham RFC’s Senior Men rounded off the 2025/26 season in style last Saturday with their end of season awards night at Farleigh Golf Club. The day began with a round of golf for many of the players (although reports suggest not every shot troubled the PGA Tour selectors) before the squad gathered for dinner, speeches and the presentation of awards. Club President Derek Child described the mood as relaxed and full of good humour, with players arriving, chatting and enjoying a well-earned social after a long season.
Head Coach Tom Street gave a strong speech reflecting on the squad and the contribution of individual players, before the awards were handed out. Congratulations go to: Olly Wilson - Coaches’ Player of the Season, Harry Cave - Players’ Player of the Season and Club Man of the Season, Moses Bisatu - Young Player of the Season, Alex Nunn - Seasoned Player of the Season, Jackson Stevens - Most Improved Player of the Season, and Andrew Dearden, who received the Hard as Nails Award - a trophy Derek had newly commissioned to recognise the defensive grit and resilience he has always valued in rugby.

Derek also presented Years of Service awards to long-standing club men Alex Glover, Simon Townsend, Alex Nunn and James Delderfield (or should that be Dangerfield?), recognising years of commitment to Warlingham RFC. He spoke particularly warmly about Simon Townsend, who first joined Derek’s side as a 13-year-old and is still pulling on the blue and white hoops today, travelling all the way from Hove, past more than a few rugby clubs, to do it.

And while the formal awards may have ended at Farleigh, the celebrations did not quite stop there, with around a dozen players sneaking back to the clubhouse to see out the night in proper Warlingham fashion. Huge thanks to Farleigh Golf Club for hosting, and congratulations to all the winners.
