Juniors make final preparations for Waterfall Cup runs

Warlingham RFC15 Jan - 18:00

Warly’s young sides are ready to take on the challenge

The hard yards have been done, the game plans are in place, and the minds are focussed. For many age groups, this forthcoming weekend marks the beginning of their Waterfall Cup campaigns, with matches being played at the club and across the county.

By way of a teaser, we have a match report from our youngest entrants to the competition, the U12s, with this write up from Head Coach, Tom Bolland.

The U12s travelled to Dorking for a mini friendly tournament before the Waterfall Cup starts next week. We were facing two Dorking teams and Barnes RFC. All opposition teams were in the league above the level we are entering for the Waterfall Cup. All three matches were won or lost by one try, and the levels of commitment, belief and team spirit were amazing. The defensive line was solid for most part, the breakdown efficient and our game management in attack showed real maturity.

We scored some great team tries finished by Charlie C, Christiaan H, Joel S. Special mention to Nathaniel R, who scored a fantastic solo try collecting the ball over his shoulder on the half way line from a clearance to weave through the Barnes defence like a hot knife through butter and dive over.

We never gave up, we were all smiles at the end, and now, going into next week, walking tall ready for Kingston.

Good luck to all Junior age groups in your Waterfall Cup campaigns!
