Farewell Brighty

Farewell Brighty

Warlingham RFC7 Jan - 12:00

In Loving Memory of Mark Bright

Farewell Mark “Brighty” Bright
1974 - 2026

We are deeply saddened to announce the passing of our dear friend, Mark Bright, following a period of long-term illness.

Known to most as “Brighty”, his contagious smile, huge personality and zest for life filled any room and made every night at the club endlessly social. He embodied the true spirit of our community and always had a moment for everyone.

First and foremost, Brighty was a loving father to Poppy and Barnaby, and a proud, constant presence around the club for them and their teammates. A truly committed member of Warlingham Rugby Club, he also gave so much in so many roles over the years; as a player, captain, coach, Mini’s Chairman, Committee member, and tireless volunteer.

Rugby was a huge part of his life, and he gave more than 30 years of service to Warlingham, playing for every team, in almost every position, and often remembered for somehow finding his way into the line-out from full back. More recently, he played Walking rugby, with the section honouring Mark by introducing the annual Brighty Cup.

In recognition of everything he gave to the club, including coaching his year group right up until Christmas, Brighty was recently made a Life Vice President.

He will be greatly missed, and our thoughts are with Emma, his family and friends at this very difficult time.
