After much anticipation, full details have now emerged of the club’s big all-dayer event, championing Women and Girls rugby at Warlingham on 22nd March!
The day begins at 10.40am with an All-girls U9s Minis Exhibition featuring our very own Warlingham Witches and invited girls-only teams travelling across counties to join us for this special occasion.
At the exhibition’s conclusion, the event moves to a sit down pre-match lunch at 1pm (£20pp for two courses) and a prize raffle. Then, following that delicious feed, step back out into the crisp spring air for the main event, the Alumni Match.
Bringing together Warlingham Wildcats from yesteryear, it’ll be a game to relive memories, rekindle the magic, and pay homage to where it all began for these players. Kick off is at 2.30pm, and making the journey from Sussex, our honorary opponents for this exclusive game will be Haywards Heath.
All funds raised from the day will be split 50:50 between developing women and girls’ rugby at the club, and local charity East Surrey Domestic Abuse Service.
Speaking of the event, our Women and Girls rep Hayley Sasserath said, “This is a huge club-first celebrating the women and girls’ game in this manner, and everyone is invited! This all-dayer represents a vision of what women and girls rugby can look like at Warlingham, and I can’t wait to see it come to life… We want it to inspire participation, bringing more women and girls to the club, helping them discover skills and abilities they never knew they had, so that next year when we schedule another celebratory game it’ll be full of fresh, exciting, homegrown talent!”.
It’s already earned its right as one of the stand out events at the club this year, so please help get the word out to your friends, family and anyone you know who’s never set foot in a rugby club as it’s sure to be a day to remember!
