Warlingham RFC recently opened its doors to more than 80 enthusiastic girls from local Rainbows, Brownies and Guides groups, hosting three energetic evening sessions designed to introduce young players to the core skills of rugby.
Delivered in partnership with England Rugby, participants learned and developed key elements of the game - passing, catching, kicking and, for the older groups, a safe, age-appropriate introduction to tackling. The girls threw themselves into every activity, and all successfully achieved their Rugby Badge.

Acknowledging Our Volunteers
The initiative was led by our dedicated Women & Girls Chair, Hayley Sasserath, whose organisation and enthusiasm brought the programme to life. We also extend our thanks to the volunteers who supported across the sessions:
Scott Toomey, Mitchell & Jackson Toomey, Adam Searle, Matt Whittle (Minis Chairman), Aoife Cunningham, Libby Thompson, Robyn Whittle, Owen Williams, Rei Williams, Sarah Fosberry, Chris Short, Ian Anderson, Tracey Lawlor, and Tom Gowers.
Their collective guidance made these sessions both safe and inspiring.
Community Support
Warlingham RFC is also grateful to Hamsey Green Fish and Kebab for kindly providing post-session chips on the final evening - a much-appreciated boost after some hard work!
These events underline Warlingham RFC’s commitment to its community and to encouraging more young people to discover rugby. Well done to all the girls who took part!
